The art of being an art

Folks often find the art of something else but never look at the simplest form of art.

You.

As I take it in depth, finding my favourite trait of art is it is the most secretive thing in the world.

You never know what its mistakes are, if the colours don't match the theme, if there are unnecessary lines, if the brush strokes are supposed to be that way and most secretly...

The meaning of that art.

If I take a look at someone’s work of art, it will be hard for me to guess the true meaning of it. And the longer I look, the more it will be mesmerising in my sight.

Back in 2022, someone made me a portrait. Someone who knows me well. And for someone like me who only believes that the subject of art should be beautiful inside and out, I doubt it.

"Why did you choose me as your subject?" I asked.

There are so many unwanted things on my face, excess curves on my body, and seemingly unpleasant tattoos attached.

So... why?

Why did someone spend a lot of time looking at my face and memorising its lines?

I looked at the painting while the other open eyes stared at me.

"You may see yourself as an unwanted piece. But trust me, the colours on your face are like a new set of palettes. The extra curves on your body are like a therapeutic wave. And the seemingly unpleasant tattoo for you is an amazing art that no one else can have."

And then, acrylic poured out to me.

I spread it to myself as I realized no one is thinking that the things I hate about myself are hateful to them.

When you accidentally put a dot on the right side of the painting, they will see that as decoration. No one will look at the missing part of your art as they will not look at where you lack.

And that's the art of being an art.
